1. Drax, Rocket And Groot
So, remember how Flash Thompson went on to become a Guardian of the Galaxy alongside Star-Lord, Gamora, Drax, Groot and Rocket? Well, during the storyline where Flash and the suit decide to return to its place of origin - a planet populated by the Klyntar - Flash actually lost control of the symbiote, and quickly began a confrontation with his fellow Guardians.
Groot is the first to accidentally succumb to the goop, turning into tree-Venom hybrid unable to utter anything other than "I am Venom!", then Rocket follows, and after that comes Drax. All react in drastically different ways to the symbiote, each look more menacing than the last, but the most appealing thing about the storyline is still the way it explores the origins of the symbiote.
Before Brian Bendis hopped onboard the Guardians of the Galaxy comic, all symbiotes were depicted as inherently evil beings. Starting in his run, however, the Klyntar were depicted as a misunderstood race, one whose intentions were originally benevolent, but were then corrupted by a group of outsiders who spread across the cosmos with their own empire - ultimately imparting the impression that all symbiotes were evil, parasitic organisms.
It's a great run, and really added some much needed depth to a being that sorely needed it, and provides as strong an argument as any for why Flash's Venom - as a veritable Guardian of the Galaxy - is up there with the very best.
