Namor is super powerful, but it's doubtful many would have considered him strong enough to beat the Hulk. In actual fact, Namor is SUPER strong - so much so that he even went toe-to-toe with Thanos during the events of Time Runs Out.
Plus, it takes some real strength to pull off those speedos. So maybe don't underestimate Namor the next time you're ranking Marvel's strongest heroes.
Anyway, apart from his strength, one of the more noticeable characteristics shared between Namor and Hulk is that they're both quick to anger and super confrontational. Put both of them next to each other, and a battle is all but assured.
Aware of this, Marvel has pitted the Sub-Mariner and ol' Jade Jaws against each other on a number of occasions, though the two most famous occurred during the publisher's formative Bullpen Era. Namor defeats Hulk in Avengers #3, and again in the Incredible Hulk #118 - albeit with the added advantage of being surrounded by the ocean.
