Dr Henry "Hank" McCoy was a gifted student and athlete who showed signs of being a mutant upon birth, thanks to having enlarged hands and feet. At puberty, he began developing simian-like characteristics. Sure, there are normal humans who possess these qualities, but that's not why the man later to be known as Beast makes our countdown. After leaving the X-Men to pursue a position as a genetic researcher at the Brand Corporation, Hank developed a serum that could activate an individual's latent mutant gene for a brief period of time. In order to prevent his research from being stolen, Hank drank his own serum, causing his current mutation to evolve and turning him into the Beast we all know and love today, as gray fur sprouted all over his body and he developed fangs, pointed ears, and claws! Forgetting to take the antidote for the serum in a timely fashion, Hank's "brief" evolution into a furry version of himself remained permanent. An encounter with Quasimodo would cause a large portion of Hank's life force to become expelled, turning his gray fur blue, and years later, as a result of a second mutation, Beast's appearance would evolve from simian-like to more cat-like. Difficult to walk down a high street in that get up, even if you're played by Kelsey Grammer.
