8. Punch And Jewelee
Way before Joker and Harley Quinn, Punch and Jewelee were the original clown couple.
The pair were a couple of yuppies who grew up in New York City. After finding a box of alien weapons (and having grown bored of their city-dwelling lives) they decided to become criminals. Punch using a ray gun that can control people and Jewelee using illusion casting gems.
Eventually they were caught though and sent to prison. Then Amanda Waller recruited them into the Suicide Squad.
It was as part of the Squad that both characters proved their worth. While both of them came across as incompetent idiots due to their propensity to goof around during missions, both proved themselves to be highly capable fighters thanks to their complete lack of morals. A lot of Squad members may not have made it back from missions, but Punch and Jewelee always made it back in one piece.
Punch and Jewelee are the kind of goofy villains that you can't help but love. This is also helped by the fact that, unlike the toxic relationship between Joker and Harley, Punch and Jewelee genuinely seem to love each other. They even decided to retire from crime and live a (relatively) normal life once Jewelee became pregnant.
