10 Massively Underrated DC Villains
7. King Shark
For a long while King Shark's origins were fairly ill-defined, with a lot of confusion over whether he was an actual shark or a mutated human. Eventually it was revealed the he is Nanaue, the son of the Hawaiian God of Sharks.
Initially King Shark was an enemy of Superman's teenage clone Superboy. In his earlier appearances, he was pretty savage and unintelligent, killing and eating anything that got in his path.
King Shark was a recurring enemy in the DC Universe for years, but it wasn't until his character was reinvented for Secret Six and later Suicide Squad that he became a fan favourite.
This version of King Shark was still pretty savage and unintelligent, but he also had a childish enthusiasm towards everything and, in contrast to his earlier appearances, a motor-mouth that would only stop talking once it was full.
King Shark made the jump to live-action when he appeared on The Flash. In one of the best episodes of the series, Flash fought him in the middle of the ocean and used his powers to electrify the water around them. It was made all the more epic by the incredibly high quality of King Shark's CGI.
Nanue was also originally going to appear in the Suicide Squad movie instead of Killer Croc, but the expensive CGI requirements meant he was quickly replaced.
