10 Massively Underrated Marvel Villains

6. Batroc

Spider Man Spot
Marvel Comics

There isn't a villain on this list who deserves their bad reputation less than Batroc the Leaper.

Thanks to his silly name, sillier moustache and certain writers horribly exaggerating his accent to ze point zat ee sounds like zis, Batroc is often considered a bit of a joke. However, he's actually one of the deadliest fighters in the Marvel Universe.

Georges Batroc is a master of the French style of kickboxing known as savate. Despite having no powers, he's skilled enough that he's even a match for superpowered characters like Captain America and Spider-Man. When he first appeared in Tales of Suspense #75, he was treated as a deadly and well-respected mercenary.

What also makes Batroc interesting is that he abides by a strict sense of honour (or "honair" as he calls it) that can often see him teaming up with a hero he was supposed to kill if he feels that his employers have acted dishonourably.

Unlike the rest of this list, Batroc managed to get a big screen debut. His appearance at the start of Captain America: The Winter Soldier (played by Georges St-Pierre) and fight against Captain America was one of the highlights of an already excellent film.
