10 Messed Up Superman Storylines You Won't Believe Exist

You'd think that Superman and everyone bearing his logo facing an assassination attempt wouldn't make for that sad of a plot line - after all, someone literally tries to kill the Man of Steel every other Wednesday, and he generally reacts to it with all the emotion of someone realising they left pickles on their burger.

However, the 2013 Batman/Superman storyline is a little different, as a regular man named Chuck gets caught up in the crossfire of this murder attempt, as at the time he is dressed up like Superman in order to entertain children in the kid's ward of a hospital. As he is wearing the iconic logo, Chuck is also shot, and dies of his wounds then and there.

Seeing Supes discover this news - and seeing Chuck bravely hide his wound to the kids he was cheering up, instead stepping out of the room to die so as to not upset them - is legitimately tearjerking, especially as it focuses on such an ordinary, and yet such a heroic, figure.
