10 Messed Up Superman Storylines You Won't Believe Exist

Gorilla Grodd The Black Ring
DC Comics

Superman: The Black Ring is a comic that was destined to be entirely messed up because of its premise. The story takes place just after the events of Blackest Night, showing Lex after his ordeal being an Orange Lantern. Combine Luthor becoming even more power-hungry with him being sent into a series of hallucinations by Mister Mind, and you're all set for a series of weird dream scenarios that are straight out of your worst fever dreams.

But Lex's weird fantasies aren't even the weirdest thing about all of this. Despite the series focusing around him, it's actually Gorilla Grodd who takes the cake for the most unsettling entity in the comic. A brain-guzzling, head eating monster, this version of the evolved anthropoid spends the majority of his time dancing between a comic relief character and a terrifying villain.

This proves absolutely terrifying, as Monsieur Mallah's cousin goes from messing around with a comically large spoon, to cutting Luthor's head off with said spoon, in the literal blink of an eye.
