The disappearance of Batman, and subsequent arrival of Barbatos, meant that most of the heavy-hitters of the DC Universe had their hands full, leaving Gotham virtually defenseless. After getting a distress call from Nightwing, Damian Wayne (son of Bruce), leads the Teen Titans to Gotham in search of Grayson.

Unbeknownst to him, The Batman Who Laughs got there first, and granted some of Batman’s deadliest villains the tools they need to construct a labyrinth at the centre of it.

With The Riddler, Bane, Poison Ivy and Mr. Freeze all imbued with mysterious power to create as they wish, they conjure all sorts of threats from mechanical minotaurs, to deadly vines, frost giants and death traps. That isn’t enough to stop the unlikely team of Nightwing, Robin, Mr. Terrific, Harley Quinn, Killer Croc, Green Arrow and Black Canary from being Gotham’s sole resistance against the darkness.

When the crew discovers a secret cache of Nth metal left by the Court of Owls, they arm themselves with the mystical metal as it is the only weakness for those from the Dark Multiverse. This is realized when Robin uses a Nth metal arrow to kill his deranged doppelganger, effectively turning the tide for the first time in the story.
