10 Most Bizarre DC Crossover Events Since 2000
1. Milk Wars
Milk Wars, the five-issue crossover event between the main DC universe and DC's Young Animal imprint, is quite possibly the strangest comic book series to ever be published by DC, crossover or otherwise.
The first issue alone features an alternate, murderous version Superman known as Milkman Man who also happens to be the "son" of Casey Brinke, a self-aware comic book character and leader of the Doom Patrol (who are plenty weird just on their own).
If that wasn't weird enough, the series also featured Mother Panic having to make the save after Batman was brainwashed into becoming a priest with an army of brainwashed Robins; Shade the Changing Girl rubbing shoulders with Wonder Woman, who was brainwashed into becoming a husband-worshipping housewife who breastfeeds household appliances; as well as Cave Carson being brainwashed into becoming an office worker before violently vomiting up Swamp Thing snapped him out of it.
This series is not only an unabashedly bizarre crossover that literally revolves around evil, mind-altering milk, but it also features a cynical, satirical look at 1950s American life, as well as fourth wall-shattering meta-narrative that completely changed the landscape of the Young Animal imprint.
For all these reasons, Milk Wars is undeniably DC's undisputed king of eccentric crossovers.
