10 Most Brutal Injuries Batman Has Suffered

7. Stabbed In The Eye - Endgame

The whole event of the Endgame story arc was one of the darkest and most disturbing in Batman history.

From dear old Alfred having one of his hands cut off to Joker axing Commissioner Gordon in the chest, times were tough in Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo's barnstorming run on the character - none more so than in Endgame.

What's worse was when Gordon happened upon a disturbing truth: that the Joker may actually be immortal. Turns out there is something more horrifying than the Joker stapling his own rotten face back on and that's his real skin growing back while parading the flimsy bit of face flesh like a sick trophy.

With Gotham in utter shambles following a massive release of Joker's latest toxin, it is up to Batman to put an end to the Clown Prince of Crime once and for all.

The two erupt in an all-out grudge match of slashing, stabbing, and no pulled punches. At one point Bruce manages to catch a razor-sharp playing card to the eye as they continue to batter each other.

The fight ends with the pair both seemingly dying of their wounds in pools of their own blood as the cave collapses around them. Bruce would later return, but as one of the many "definitive" ends that have met both characters, this is surely one of the best.
