It's safe to say that Batman takes a fair beating throughout the Arkham games, depending on how skilled the player is.

Throughout the trilogy and the spin-off Arkham Origins, Bruce can take multiple cuts, bruises, and bullets from multiple different enemy types. However, some of the most severe incidents are saved for scripted cutscenes to amp up the suspense and heighten the stakes leading up to the game's finale.

None were quite as harrowing as during the second game when fairly early on Batman was infected with a string of the Joker's pestilential blood. After all, if anyone can find a cure it's Batman, right?

... Right?

The infectious nature of the Joker's blood becomes a recurring plot device as it surges through Bruce's body, often incapacitating him at various points in the game. Batman is eventually forced to make a deal with Ra's al Ghul to drink some of the League of Assassin's curative elixir just to buy a few more hours.

Audiences get a brief glimpse at what damage the blood is already doing to Bruce when he briefly removes the cowl when talking to Talia.

Looking at the devastating effects the blood had had on Joker's own body, it isn't hard to imagine what prolonged horrors this had on Batman's, which we of course witnessed firsthand in Batman: Arkham Knight.
