10 Most Controversial Superman Comics Of All Time
5. That Stupid Gun - Superman: At Earth's End (1995)
Superman: At Earth's End takes place in 2102AD, with the titular superhero pushing 130 years old. After witnessing human civilisation collapse for the second time, the Kryptonian must stop two Adolf Hitler clones take over the world with their army of Nazi bat-hybrids. If that sentence sounds like gibberish to you, don't worry. it doesn't make sense to anyone.
Superman teams up with a kid motorcycle gang to stop the Twin Hitlers from resurrecting history's most influential people including Albert Einstein, Lex Luthor and Elvis Presley. (No, really.)
Unsurprisingly, At Earth's End is considered one of the worst Superman stories of all time. The plot is so non-sensical, it sounds like the fan-fiction written by someone who had never read a Superman comic... or books in general.
What At Earth's End is most infamous her is the image of an elderly Superman using a quadruple mini-gun called The Expunger.
For over three-quarters of a century, Superman has been depicted as a beacon of peace and yet, the writers of this stinker thought it would be cool to give him the biggest gun in the history of guns. The artist was so proud of this image, he stuck it on the front cover.
