10 Most Disturbing X-Men Villains

9. Mojo

Even at a glance, you can just tell that Mojo is one of the most repulsive figures in the X-Men's library.

Introduced in 1985's Longshot #3 by Ann Nocenti and Art Adams, Mojo is a horrifying alien creature who gets around using mechanical spider-legs. He was intended to be a satire of unscrupulous network executives in the 1980s (think Running Man's Damon Killian, only more visually grotesque), and the end result was one of the most disturbing figures in Marvel history.

Mojo is basically just the most rotten looking thing in the galaxy. He's a slaver, and runs a gladiatorial series of programs watched by millions across the universe - with many of his gladiators also being unwilling participants. To make matters worse though, he also has a terrifying assortment of powers that makes him one of the most powerful foes the X-Men have ever come up against.

Mojo's spider-crab-leg... thing basically packs its own armoury, with the Spineless One able to call upon an array of projectile and cutting weapons if he's threatened. He's resistant to Rogue's powers, he can control minds, and worse still, his touch can cause organic life to wither and die.
