3. He Was Jilted By Catwoman
Batman tried to deny his feelings for Catwoman for years so he could focus on his mission to protect Gotham. Over time, he realised that he deserved to be happy and so, asked Catwoman to marry him.
When she accepted his proposal, the pair started acting like a real couple for the first time. Not only did they go on a double-date with Clark Kent and Lois Lane, Bruce Wayne had a bachelor party!
While prepping the wedding, it seemed like the whole world was against them; the Riddler and the Joker started a war in Gotham, Poison Ivy used her pheromone control to take over the world, and The Gentle Man trapped Batman and Wonder Woman in another dimension.
Although the odds were stacked against Batman, he triumphed over every ordeal. Nothing was going to stop him from getting married... except Catwoman. As they were about to get hitched, Catwoman dumped Bruce, telling him that a content Batman wouldn't be an efficient superhero.
Batman needed to use his rage to do his job and Catwoman's presence would compromise that rage. Batman understood why she acted this way, but was still left heartbroken (until they eventually patched things up).
