10 Most Emotional Spider-Man Stories Ever
4. Dying Wish - Amazing Spider-Man #700
The storyline that saw Otto Octavius take over Spider-Man's body was always going to be an emotionally-charged one - after all, we're talking about one of the red web-slinger's oldest enemies stealing his body and wiping him out.
While watching Peter Parker drag himself around in Otto's failing body is upsetting enough, it's nothing in comparison to the peak of the story, which sees Peter willing give all his memories to Doc Ock, in order to inspire the villain the same way Peter's life motivated him to become the hero he was.
There's no anger on Peter's part at this point - no thoughts of revenge or fury - just the need to make sure that if he can't be Spider-Man, that whoever is uses the role for good. It's perhaps the biggest statement about both Peter and the legacy of Spider-Man that has been managed for quite some time, and as such, it's hard to not get just a little choked up by it.
