10 Most Emotional Wolverine Moments

3. The Murder Of Wolverine's Family

Wolverine death
Marvel Comics

The Old Man Logan comic run is regarded by many fans as one of the best Wolverine stories ever told. The grim, gritty, and noir style of this dystopian alternate-earth story perfectly fits the grim, gritty, and noir nature of Wolverine's character. The comic series also served as the main inspiration for the fan favourite film, Logan, which served as a fitting tribute and conclusion to Wolverine's character arc.

The series has received acclaim for this gritty style that works so well, not least because of all the trauma Wolverine experiences throughout.

One of the most terrible things ever to happen to Wolverine takes place in this run. After retiring from the X-Men, he starts a family, only to have them brutally murdered by gang of Hulks (because Hulk is evidently evil in this universe) in his absence.

It is moments like this that capture the pain of Wolverine's character, his depth and complexity. This dark style is what fans of the character relish and so this moment, and Old Man Logan as whole, can be called Wolverine at his best and most emotional.
