Were Death of the Family to be split into all it's most traumatic and gruesome moments, this list would simply become a play-by-play account of basically every single scene in the series - because, as it stands, the entire comic is delightfully night-inducing from start to finish.

And where some scenes are more strikingly horrific than others - namely, Damian's scene with the Joker, which contains an entire buffet of gross rotten things, crawling insects, and child trauma - each part is equally awful for their own special reason.

For Harley Quinn, Batgirl and Jason Todd, this comes from them being forced to confront their traumas surrounding their experiences with the Clown Prince of Crime. For Alfred Pennyworth and Jim Gordon, this is the knowledge that they are being used in order to blackmail the Dark Knight - and thus, that they are most likely to get the worst injuries, in order to hurt Batman through proximity.

With chopped off limbs, psychological scarring, and even a mutated cat being included in the Joker's plan, the one silver lining of the series is that, given every character in it leaves traumatised, they can at least save money by buying group therapy instead.
