10 Most Heroic Things The Suicide Squad Have Ever Done
6. Dr. Light’s Last Stand
Dr. Light's fatal last stand against the force of evil is, by all means, a heroic gesture. It is, however, slightly undermined by the fact that Arthur only does it because his ghost pal has convinced him it'll be an easy win - whether he was drastically underestimating the forces of Apokolips, or drastically overestimating the force of Dr. Light, we'll never know.
Either way, although on paper this sacrifice looks pretty honorable, the fact that Light doesn't fully realise the danger he's putting himself in sells it slightly short.
This all said, it's clear throughout the 1987 Suicide Squad run that Light just really wants people to like him, so it seems his last battle may actually be more about trying to get their approval. While it's not quite fighting to protect friends, there's something about risking your life to try and befriend a bunch of convicts that is still pretty heroic, even if it wouldn't get you into the Justice League.
All in all, a solo crusade against swarms of evil is still a pretty heroic move - even when done for slightly less heroic reasons.
