10 Most Iconic Spider-Man Covers - Ranked
1. Marvel Superheroes Secret Wars #8
Of course, without Secret Wars #8, Venom may not have existed, which is why this cover gets the honour of the number one spot. Not only is the original Secret Wars one of the most beloved events in comics, but it also marked the biggest turning point in Spider-Man's story.
As chaos ensued, Peter's suit was literally falling to pieces when he notices everyone seems to be getting new costumes.
Hulk lets him know that they have found a device that creates costumes by thought. While he searches for the device, he stumbles across something which he assumes is the same device he was told about.
It produces a strange black ball, which then spreads across his entire body. There's no time for him to figure out why the suit looks nothing like his original, as Xavier warns Galactus is close to consuming Battleworld.
The new suit's origin is explained in Amazing Spider-Man #258, when Parker takes it to Reed Richards for analysis.
Using a sonic blaster, Richards manages to separate the suit from Peter and contain it for study. This leaves Peter with no choice but to wear a paper bag and a spare Fantastic Four uniform, AKA the Bombastic Bag-Man.
