7. Web Of Spider-Man #95

The Nineties was full of amazing cover art as more artists were embracing digital means of creating their artwork, but few are quite as spectacular as Web of Spider-Man #95.

Featuring a giant Venom and a possessed Ghost Rider (as if normal Ghost Rider wasn't scary enough) chasing down our hero, cover artist Alex Saviuk clearly put a lot of effort into this shocking cover and his work only got more intense as the issue unfolded.

The issue is an action-packed thrill ride, featuring a failed assassination attempt by Hobgoblin, while an evil Spider-Doppelganger, Demogoblin tries to take them both out. Later in the issue, the Doppelganger and Demogoblin end up in the sewers to duke it out with Venom, Ghost Rider and Johnny Blaze (who had stepped down from the Ghost Rider mantle at the time).

As the issue comes to a close, the Deathspawn drag everyone back down into the sewers, with Spider-Man jumping down to try and put a stop to the madness.

Web of Spider-Man #95 is a perfect example of the action heavy insanity of Nineties comics, made even better by that terrifying cover.
