This Deadpool had been killing his way across the Multiverse to no avail to try and make his way to his creators to stop them from the endless cycle of death, destruction, and rebirth that his comics had become. Locking up many of the most intelligent villains like the Mad Thinker, The Leader, and others, Wade came up with a new plan.

Using the premise that they were all fictional characters, the geniuses determined that if Wade eliminated the classical inspirations for the heroes from literature, they wouldn’t arise to plague him. Armed with this idea, he jumped into the Nexus of All Realities. Deadpool began killing his way through classic literature and as he kills them, he saw the people that they had inspired in his universe.

Unknown to Deadpool, the Thinker sent universe-traveling technology and information to Sherlock Holmes who builds a team of Beowulf, Natty Bumppo, Mulan, and Dr. Watson to stop him. Meanwhile, Wade has put part of his own mind into Frankenstein’s Monster to aid him. The teams met in 1627 Paris and a mighty battle ensued. Holmes and Deadpool disappeared in HG Well’s time machine and fought in the time stream. Even though Holmes won and The Merc was set adrift, he said he won because he broke the very idea of heroes. Holmes was left trying to desperately remember the great stories.
