5. Kara's Questionable Taste In Romantic Partners

Supergirl and the Red Lanterns
DC Comics

Sticking to the absolute fever dream that was comics in the mid 20th century, Supergirl (just like her cousin) found herself in a plethora of weird situations, some more harmless than others. Unfortunately, her time with Comet the Super-horse was far from eccentric but ultimately palatable fun.

Most people often have tight, unshakeable bonds with their pets but Kara and her superpowered equine friend took things to the next, cringe-inducing level. It turns out that Comet was no ordinary horse but was once a centaur named Biron who was granted the ability to turn into a human once a comet passes through the solar system.

Convoluted origins aside, while in human form he took on the identity of Bill Starr, a rodeo trick-rider, and during this time, he and Supergirl had a brief romance where she was completely unaware of her partner's true identity.

DC would later repeat this awful decision (down to hiding Comet's true nature) when they decided to romantically link up the super-powered horse and Lois Lane in her own (just as weird) comic run.
