10 Most Intense Comic Books Of All Time

5. World War Hulk #5

Captain America Iron Man Civil War
Marvel Comics

Before the events of Civil War could take place, a group of superheroes called the Illuminati got together and decided it would be best if Bruce Banner, aka the Incredible Hulk, left Earth for good..

They decided to trick him into repairing a satellite, but instead blasted him off into space. Things went awry and his spacecraft delivered him on Sakaar where he rose to become a gladiator and finally, the planet's leader. After his spacecraft exploded and killed the woman he loved, he decided to return to Earth to exact his revenge.

Hulk and his Warbound boarded a massive spacecraft and made their way to Earth. This version of the Hulk was more powerful than any previously seen and he took the fight to the Illuminati members who sent him away.

The fight finally concluded in World War Hulk #5 when the Sentry was convinced to go to New York and stop the Hulk. Their fight was so intense, it caused damage to the tectonic plates underneath the city. They pummelled each other into submission so hard, their powers were drained to the point their human selves (Bruce Banner and Robert Reynolds) were left weakly beating on one another.
