10 Most Powerful Characters Killed By Batman

In the final season of Justice League Unlimited (and the DCAU as a whole), the spectral Deadman recruited the help of Batman, Wonder Woman and Superman in order to foil Gorilla Grodd's latest scheme. Grodd had murdered one of Deadman's mentors, so this was a personal mission for the ghostly circus performer.

The heroic trio (Deadman at this time possessed Superman's body) made their way to Gorilla City, where they eventually encountered Grodd and his newly formed Legion of Doom. Devil Ray (one of the Legion's members, and a stand-in for Aquaman foe Black Manta) is then confronted by a now-possessed Wonder Woman and is nearly killed by the Amazon before Deadman decides to spare him.

In rapid order, the Leaguers foil Grodd's plan. In the aftermath of the clash, however, Devil Ray attempts to kill Wonder Woman. He is prevented by Deadman, who possesses Batman's body, grabs one of Lex Luthor's guns and shoots the villain. The impact of the blow sends Devil Ray into an exposed electric panel and the surge kills him.

While Batman technically did not intend to kill Devil Ray, it is still tragically ironic that he used a weapon that he profoundly despises.
