10 Most Powerful Characters Killed By Magneto

8. Zaladane - The Path Not Taken

Ultimatum Magneto Kills Wolverine
Marvel Comics

Created by Gerry Conway and Barry Windsor-Smith, Zaladane, sometimes calling herself Zola Dane, claimed to be the half-sister of Polaris, aka Lorna Dane. She became obsessed with acquiring magnetic powers like her “sister” and traveled the world. Zaladane eventually ended up in the Savage Land and became the High Priestess of the Sun People, where she learned to control the region's magical forces, but met defeat at the hands of Ka-Zar.

Zaladane allied herself with the enigmatic High Evolutionary, who gave her the magnetic powers that she had long coveted. Using the Evolutionary’s technology, Zala stole the magnetic powers from her sister when they met, triggering Lorna’s secondary mutation. Using this renewed power, Zaladane resumed her control of the Savage Land while Magneto, Rogue, Ka-Zar, and Nick Fury invade the region to take it back.

Setting the stage for Uncanny X-Men #275, Magneto is captured and Zaladane uses Wyndham’s technology to take his powers as well. She also gets his most intimate memories, especially the one of his wife’s murder. Rogue, Fury, and Ka-Zar finally battle their way to Zaldane’s castle and Rogue reverses the process, returning Magnus’ powers. Enraged by the violation of his body and memories, Magneto easily rips thru Zala’s army, and once he reaches her, he reverses the flow of the blood in her veins by controlling the iron, leading to a painful death. So much for the rehabilitation of Magneto.
