10 Most Powerful Marvel Characters Kraven The Hunter Fought

6. Vermin - Peter Parker, The Spectacular Spider-Man Vol.1 #131

Kraven Venom
Marvel Comics

If taking on Captain America wasn't a great enough feat to secure Kraven's legacy, then it's good to know he's already outdone himself - for in this issue, he hunts an enemy not even Captain America could defeat alone.

Written in 1987 by J.M. DeMatteis and pencilled by Mike Zeck, this issue - part of the seminal Kraven's Last Hunt story - sees an older, dying Kraven attempt to end his career on a high.

This story sees Kraven proving once and for all that he is a match for Spider-Man by donning his foe's costume and fighting crime - and while he cuts a bloody swathe through the criminals on the street, he has a much more dangerous animal in mind. Reports of a cannibal on the loose in New York lead Kraven to the sewers beneath the city, where a monstrous rat-man awaits - Vermin.

In Spider-Man's previous match with Vermin, even when he teamed up with Captain America, it was all the pair could do to subdue the beast - but Kraven chooses to fight Vermine alone. Locked in a life-or-death grapple, Vermin manages to slash Kraven's side, but Kraven pulls through and beats the creature into unconsciousness.
