The Mighty Thor may not be the most powerful Asgardian going, but they are definitely the most powerful Asgardian hero. Add to that the fact there've been two of them - both the Odinson and Jane Foster - and that's a lot of power to digest.
Thor wields one of the most powerful objects in the Marvel Universe, the hammer Mjolnir, and has dabbled with other weapons too. When made unworthy to wield the hammer, the Odinson used the axe Jarnbjorn, which he had fought with before attaining Mjolnir centuries ago.
Of course, all those who've held the mantle of Thor have demonstrated that they're much more than the hammer. They are in fact the most physically strong Asgardian going, and is nigh-invulnerable. He can survive attacks from the most ancient of beings and reply with a volley of some of the most destructive magical lightning going, which he has done time and time again.
Factor that in with his centuries' worth of warrior training, and Thor's status as the mightiest Avenger cannot be in doubt.

In his current role, Ewan incorporates his love of cinema, comic books, and history into written pieces and video essays for WhatCulture's Film & TV channel, as well as WhatCulture Gaming and WhatCulture Horror, with a particular focus on nineties-era Dad Movies, old school Westerns, and Golden Age Hollywood Noir.
