10 Most Ridiculous Things Batman Has Survived

1. Being Shot

Batman Odyssey
DC Comics

Neal Adams (RIP) is one of the true greats of the comic book industry, a genuine game-changer. His influence on superhero comics cannot be overstated; as an artist, that is. As a writer? He may have been the worst writer to ever be given his own Batman series, or even to have taken any extended run at the character.

During the course of Odyssey - a comic in which nothing makes any sense whatsoever to an almost impressive degree - Batman is shot what seems to be about one hundred times, before falling to the ground and bleeding out. It transpires, however, that the Batsuit is fitted out with blood packs, enabling it to appear as if the man inside it has been shot and is dying, tricking criminals into thinking he is dead. In the same comic, the Caped Crusader is also shot through the Batsuit in the exact place on his forearm that he was shot years prior, and he passes out due to it.

Worse still, is that later in the comic Batman is actually shot directly in the face, in the only place his suit doesn’t cover, but it is revealed that he has some sort of invisible shield that slides down to protect his face when he is shot at. Yes, really.
