10 Most Ridiculous Things Batman Has Survived
5. Superman
This list so far has primarily focused on injuries the Caped Crusader has directly sustained that, either through sheer tenacity, immense wealth, or impenetrable plot armour, he has managed to survive. However, in Jeph Loeb and Jim Lee’s Hush, Batman is forced into combat with Big Blue himself, who is under the spell of Poison Ivy.
Batman wouldn’t be Batman, however, if he didn’t have a few tricks up his sleeve. Ever the master strategist, Bruce is able to use his guile and cunning to buy himself time enough to snap Supes out of his state, but not before breaking his own hand on the Man of Steel while punching him with a Kryptonite ring.
If there is a criticism to be levelled at Hush, it is that the comic seems to largely exist as an excuse to elaborate on how badass its main character is, and to give Lee an opportunity to draw essentially the entirety of the vigilante's greatest adversaries. This leads to Batman dispatching formerly formidable foes with relative ease, and even surviving an encounter with the Last Son of Krypton.
Still, this fight is treated with more respect for Superman than in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman, as Bats is shown to know that his only chance is to stall out Man of Steel and hope he can break Poison Ivy’s hold over him.
