5. Beaten To Death With A Rock - The Infinity Gauntlet

Few Marvel Comics characters have had quite as big an impact in such a small time as Terraxia.

Debuting in The Infinity Gauntlet #3, this is a character who only appeared in three issues before her demise - but boy, what a three issues it was!

Created by Thanos to be his equal, his warrior, his lover, Terraxia was involved in some of the most brutal moments of Jim Starling and George Perez's The Infinity Gauntlet. In particular, she decapitates Tony Stark, and then kills off Spider-Man.

From the perspective of the readers, we see Terraxia mount Spidey while Thanos sets his sights on Thor. From there, the next shot of Terraxia we get is merely her hand holding a bloodied rock as a pleased Mad Titan looks on - with it revealed that this powerhouse has caved in Spider-Man's head with said rock.

In a story arc brimming with carnage and bloodshed, the quickfire deaths of Tony Stark and Peter Parker are traumatising standouts.

Like so many of the other heroes brutally murdered during The Infinity Gauntlet, though, the death of Spider-Man would be reversed when Nebula and Adam Warlock managed to halt Thanos' plan and revert the universe back to its prior form.
