10 Most Ridiculous Things Wolverine Survived

3. Magneto Ripped Out His Skeleton

Marvel Comics

After Magneto disrupted the world's technology with an electromagnetic pulse, the X-Men journeyed to his base to put an end to their nemesis once and for all. Despite Magneto hitting the X-Men with everything he had, the team bested him in battle. When Wolverine sliced Mags' chest, he realised he couldn't win unless he did something drastic.

In a last ditch effort, the Master of Magnetism used his abilities to wrench Wolverine's adamantium skeleton out of his body. Watching Wolverine shriek in agony as metal bores out of every part of his body is one of the most haunting images in Marvel Comics.

At the time, readers had never seen the superhero sustain an injury of this magnitude and genuinely didn't know if he would survive. Wolverine even has a moment where he saw himself "going towards the light".

Although his healing factor saved him, Logan lost his metal skeleton. On top of that, Magneto's attack overloaded his healing factor so much, it stopped working.

He rebonded with his adamantium skeleton years later, but Wolverine was physically and psychologically rattled for a long time after Magneto's assault.
