10 Most Ridiculous Ways Superheroes Have Come Back From The Dead

7. Nick Fury Is Always A Life Model Decoy

Since they were introduced, Life Model Decoys have become one of the laziest cop outs in history.

LMD's are highly advanced SHIELD robots designed to look just like a real person. They also provide a really simple way of resurrecting a hero, just reveal it was really a robot who died instead.

The most infamous example of this is easily Nick Fury. Countless times now he's been killed, only for the real Fury to jump out from somewhere and reveal that, surprise, it was only a LMD. It's becoming something of a running joke in the Marvel Universe that "it's always a Life Model Decoy".

It got particularly absurd during the 90's. As part of a crossover between Punisher, Daredevil and Ghost Rider, Frank Castle was tricked (thanks to the magic of Photoshop) into thinking that Nick Fury killed his family.

Punisher went on a vendetta against Fury, blowing up a warehouse full of all the LMDs to ensure that if Nick Fury died he would be definitely for-sure really dead. Then Punisher shot Nick in the back and killed him.

At his funeral, heroes like Wolverine and Black Widow showed up to confirm that yes, it was the real Nick Fury and yes, he was 100% really dead.

Then Sharon Carter exhumed his body and found that it was actually just a super-special Life Model Decoy built by Tony Stark.

I was just a mild-mannered NCTJ accredited journalist until one day I found out the truth... that I could share my nerdy ramblings with people on the internet! It's just like mumbling to myself on the train, but without all the strange looks.
