10 Most Ridiculously Overpowered Superheroes In The DC Universe
9. Martian Manhunter
J'onn J'onzz gets a bit of a bad rap from comics fans, probably not helped by his adopting a codename which sounds like the sort of sci-fi soft core films Channel 5 used to broadcast after the watershed. Martian Manhunter is a pretty goofy name, but it belies the staggering set of powers that this refugee from Mars is in possession of. Also serving as a member of the Justice League, J'onzz has used his abilities of telepathy and unparalleled shapeshifting to aid his secret identity as a private detective. As part of the JLA, he employed his ability to fly, turn invisible, breathe ice, his invulnerability and super strength. Martian Manhunter's healing abilities rival Orion's and possibly even Wolverine's - the Marvel linchpin is infamous in being able to come back from even the most fatal injuries - since his shapeshifting abilities allow him to reconstitute himself entirely, like the gooey evil T-1000 from Terminator 2. Oh also his telepathic powers also let him shoot psionic blasts out of his eyes, as if all of that wasn't enough. Unlike Orion, J'onzz doesn't really have any weaknesses. His one major issue before was fire, which apparently all martians suffer from (way to live on a super hot red planet, ya jackasses), which he managed to "overcome". Superman can't even "overcome" his susceptibility to Kryptonite, so we'd say that being able to just dismiss his weaknesses makes the Martian Manhunter pretty overpowered.
Tom Baker is the Comics Editor at WhatCulture! He's heard all the Doctor Who jokes, but not many about Randall and Hopkirk. He also blogs at http://communibearsilostate.wordpress.com/
