10 Most Ridiculously Overpowered Superheroes In The DC Universe
8. Captain Atom
More often than not, debates over who the most powerful superheroes are comes down to who we reckon would win in a fight. In that case, we have definitive evidence that Captain Atom could defeat the majority of the DC Universe if it came down to it, as evidenced by the alternate reality where he took the villainous mantle of the Monarch, killed most of that world's superheroes and ruled with an approach befitting of his grandiose alter ego. Which is impressive, but also not such a surprise given Nathaniel Adam has complete control over the Quantum Field, a limitless void that allows him to draw on an infinite amount of cosmic energy. For the most part he utilises the Quantum Field to do all the usual superhero things - fly, be super strong, invulnerability, have shiny skin - Captain Atom could use it to do basically anything. Although when he did do that, all that nasty Monarch stuff happened. Still, the reason he's gotten away with little lapses in judgement like that which end up with him being completely discombobulated (and multiple times in alternate realities which then get wiped out), he uses the power to bring himself back to life. When he is alive, the metal skin that allows him to manipulate the Field also means he doesn't need food, sleep or even oxygen which, coupled with the invulnerability, means he can't be killed by any conventional means. Or any whacky means either, as evidenced by the numerous occasions he's survived the collapse of entire universes. Captain Atom cannot die, no matter how hard you try, and he can do pretty much anything he wants to get revenge on you if you do.
