Contrary to popular belief, Trigon is not a demon (though the term is sometimes used colloquially for him), and he's not from Hell. He's actually the physical manifestation of all the fear and hate in his universe.

After consuming the souls of every living being in his own universe, Trigon began attempting to invade other realities by conceiving children to be born on planets he couldn't access himself.

Originally referred to as "Satan," Trigon is one of DC's versions of the archetypal devil, and he was initially summoned to Earth by a Satanic cult. There are two different versions of this story, and neither is pleasant.

In one version, Trigon disguised himself to seduce Arella, the cultist offered up as the "bride of Satan," only revealing his true "demonic" form after she was pregnant. And in the newer version, he simply drew potential mates to his universe, and forced himself on them so violently that they usually died from the assault, and those that survived killed themselves afterwards.

That alone is enough to earn Trigon a spot on this list, not to mention the fact that he's a malevolent demigod who kills people by simply looking at them, and corrupts the minds of any who feel his power.
