10 New Year 2018 Resolutions Marvel Comics Should Make

3. Stop Spoiling Comics Before They've Released

While this resolution could go for DC as much as it could for Marvel, it is the latter who suffered the most from spoiling their comics in the press.

In the weeks leading up to the release of Marvel Legacy, the House of Mouse had been drumming up anticipation for a 'big' return. Someone, we were told, would come back from the dead with the 'heart and soul' of the Marvel Universe. What surprise there was to be had, however, was robbed when Marvel debuted the reveal to media outlets a whole day before the comic's release.

This followed on from when Secret Empire's ending was publicised in the New York Times shortly before its concluding release, so two of Marvel's most anticipated comics made their way online before fans actually had a chance to pick them up.

It's obvious that it's done to drum up hype, but all it ends up doing is disappoint readers who were patiently waiting for the actual comic to release. As a tactic to combat leaks, it does little, and probably makes things worse, actually. The spoilers for Legacy #1 were everywhere the day preceding its release, and while that book had more surprises to give, spoiling Logan's return was totally avoidable.
