In line with the recent Netflix hit, The Umbrella Academy, October Faction also follows a fantastical comic book family, but with monster hunters instead of superheroes. With its dark and fantastical tone and teen characters, however, it may also follow in the footsteps of shows such as Chilling Adventures of Sabrina.
The story focuses on "globetrotting monster hunters" Fred and Deloris Allen who move back home to upstate New York after the death of Fred’s father, with their teen twins Geoff and Viv. It also involves Fred and Deloris hiding their identities as members of a secret organisation, while their small town holds secrets they might have to deal with later.
The original comic, created by Steve Niles and Damien Worm, brings chills with its delightfully unsettling art style and dark themes, opening with a scene about a drunk driving accident and the restless spirits of the dead, but it has the potential to be as fun and silly as dark and scary, and the show will hopefully balance out these tones in a way that'll have audiences coming back for more.
