10 Oldest Mutants In X-Men History

7. Apocalypse - 5,000+ Years

Old Man Logan New
Marvel Comics / Mahmud Asrar

You can't talk about ancient mutants without bringing up the big daddy himself, Apocalypse. After all, he's the oldest mutant, right? I mean, his name, En Sabuh Nur, literally means "The First One", doesn't it?

Afraid not. Apocalypse isn't the oldest mutant. (And "En Sabuh Nur" actually means "Morning Light." So, not only is Apocalypse a genocidal maniac, he's an outright fibber!)

However, this doesn't change the fact that the tyrannical mutant is mind-bogglingly ancient. Born 5,000 years ago in Jordan, Nur was abandoned by his parents due to his grotesque appearance. After discovering a Celestial spaceship during his youth, he used its advanced technology to augment his power, transforming himself into a godlike being called Apocalypse. Now perceiving himself as a saviour, Apocalypse believes he must cull the weak to preserve the world for the strong.

Even though almost every superhero has battled him over the millennia, no one has been able to permanently defeat him. When he is gravely injured, Apocalypse enters a coma-like state, repairing his body of all wounds. This process may take years or even centuries but make no mistake, Apocalypse will always return.
