3. Namor
Namor is the last male to make the cut here, and he one of those heroes in the same category as the likes of the Nova and the aforementioned Martian Manhunter - popular enough that all comic book fans have heard of them, but not well known enough to be recognisable in popular culture.
It probably doesn’t aid the Sub-Mariner’s cause that he’s constantly overshadowed by Aquaman, but he also didn’t help himself by swimming around in tight green trunks and not much else for the majority of his early existence.
In fairness, he has had a few redesigns since then, and his new outfit that debuted in 2018’s run is his coolest yet. However, even that suffers from the same issue that’s dogged his design for years; he’s desperate to show off his upper body.
It’s not even all of it that he’s especially proud of, just a strip down the middle. The new crustacean inspired armour is excellent, but the open design is still a strange throwback to his trunked days. He’s getting closer, but after getting most of his costume right, it feels like so near, yet so far.
