Emma Frost has had various costume designs down the decades, but they’re all held together by a similar concept, and it’s a concept that’s growing more and more dated year on year.
She never seems to wear any actual clothes; just an open jacket and some underwear. The style of lingerie changes from time to time, but the general idea remains. The white catsuit she wore before that in her Generation X run had potential, but the flourishes were clunky and she soon switched back.
She does sometimes opt for skin tight leather pants and a crop top, but it just feels like they’re fighting it. The pants are so low you can see her pelvic muscles and the crop top is slashed full of holes to give the illusion of nakedness.
For all that January Jones’ silver screen turn was characteristically wooden, credit it where it’s due, at least they actually committed to the costume. While others on this list have had their appearances tweaked in live action, Fox just shoved Jones on screen in lingerie. It didn’t really pay off and her cinematic popularity is minor compared to the near iconic status she enjoys amongst comic book fans.
