10 Popular Comics Characters Imported From Other Media

First appearance: Having seen a lot of DC imports from TV to comics, it's probably fair to say that this is a less common phenomenon with their old rivals. That doesn't mean, though, that Marvel Comics haven't picked up a few characters from elsewhere. Wolverine's cute girl clone X-23 was created for the episode of the same name in the X-Men: Evolution animated series in 2000 and soon ended up in the comic as well.

A recurring character in that series, X-23, created to be a perfect killing machine but turning out rather more heroic, ended up being positioned as one of the future X-Men as the show came to its conclusion in 2003.

In the comics: A self harming prostitute version of X-23 appeared in the limited series NYX in 2003, a story that focused on teenage mutants living on the streets, before joining up with the main cast in Uncanny X-Men #450 in December 2004. Her backstory wasn't really explored until 2005's X-23: Innocence Lost, which was written by the cartoon series' writers Craig Kyle and Christopher Yost, who further developed the character during their run on X-Force.

Following the Secret Wars arc, the comic version of X-23 has assumed Wolverine's mantle and is dressing in a version of his classic yellow and blue costume.

And back again?: X-23 has yet to appear in the Fox live action X-Men movies (she did appear in the comics' Age of Apocalypse arc, but there is no sign of her in the upcoming movie version). She is, however, a fixture in Marvel video games from Marvel vs Capcom to the recent Marvel Heroes MMORPG.
