10 Problems Only Marvel Fans Will Understand

8. Mediocre Events

The problem with promising that every major event is going to be bigger than the last and will change everything is that they eventually end up all feeling the same. Civil War was possibly the last Marvel event to really alter the Marvel Universe in a significant way, and the positive reaction to that has seemingly resulted in the publisher adopting a rinse and repeat approach where a new status quo is established on a regular basis. Fans barely have time to get used to these changes before another event begins and things are once again shaken up. As a result, even Marvel seem to be slacking in acknowledging the ramifications of stories like Original Sin and AXIS as they're too busy looking ahead to the next money making story and laying the groundwork for that. Event comics are great, but the way things are going, they run the risk of becoming utterly meaningless.
