If you're a proud collector who enjoys bagging, boarding, boxing, and organising their comics, Marvel makes that all the more difficult with constant relaunches. Amazing Spider-Man should now be up in the 700s somewhere, but is instead on issue #13. It's rare for a comic featuring even the biggest of characters going further than that these days. A big storyline ends or a certain creative team leaves, and bam, there you have a new #1. Though it may result in a brief boost in sales, it's hard to think of a reason other than that why Marvel thinks this is a necessary move. If anything, they've completely devalued the importance of a first issue, and it feels like fans are growing more and more frustrated with these constant relaunches. They've become predictable too - an event also often heralds a book getting a new #1 - and it takes away a lot of the enjoyment of collecting comics.
