10 Questionable Actions Committed By Wolverine
8. Opening His Own School
Wolverine and the X-Men #1
At the end of the "Schism" event, the X-Men were left with a choice. Either they could stay on Utopia and follow Cyclops' lead, who was becoming more militaristic. Or they could follow Wolverine back to Westchester where the X-Mansion would be rebuilt as the Jean Grey School for Higher Learning. Wanting to rebuild the school and give young mutants a future was certainly a noble endeavor and Logan should be commended for that. He even put up his own money.
But serving as Headmaster may not have been the best idea. As mentioned before, Logan has a lot of responsibilities being the member of almost every single team in the Marvel Universe. He's also got a lot of enemies who have a tendency to track down and try to kill the people he cares about. And he's pretty bad about his responsibilities, constantly flaking off to go on solo adventures in Madripoor or Japan or Hell or wherever.
Logan doesn't have much in the way of educational experience either. He's no teacher, he's no expert on mutation, he's no genius, and even though he's been trained in a number of fighting styles, his battle strategy usually consists of running headlong into a hail of enemies without any concern for his own well-being. Keeping all that in mind, it would seem strange for him to choose to open a school. His frequent absences still occur, even as Headmaster. Including a trip to an interstellar casino with one of the students in order to cheat at cards and win enough money to continue funding the school.
Oh, and that student already has a penchant for troublemaking and even tried to kill the X-Men on a few different occasions. Somehow, we don't think Wolverine's going to be in line to receive the Golden Apple Award any time in the near future.
