10 Questionable Actions Committed By Wolverine
7. Leading A Team Of Killers
Seen In: X-Force #1 (volume 3), Uncanny X-Force #1
A crazed Scarlet Witch reduced the mutant population to just under 200 (once more, do NOT ask) and this also meant no more mutant births, until the Messiah CompleX event, when a mutant child was born, and everyone was trying to find her. Once the dust had settled and Cable took the child under his own protection, Cyclops had the bright idea to form a black ops strike team that would conduct missions with lethal force. To lead this team, he went to none other than Wolverine.
Even though Logan knew it was a bad idea to have a team like this, especially one that included younger mutants like Wolfsbane and X-23, he still led them into bloody battle after bloody battle, resulting in some pretty severe emotional damage being done to Rahne. While it's true that Logan did warn all the members of what sort of life they were looking at, when they said they wanted to stay, he just shrugged it off. Because as we all know, young people are so great at making decisions.
But later, without Cyclops' involvement, Logan thought a team of killers wasn't such a bad idea and he kept them around. Although to his credit, the second time around, he recruited people who were more suited to the work (Psylocke, Fantomex, Deadpool). But even when he started up a school where young mutants could be safe, Logan was still leading a kill squad! Not exactly setting a great example for your students when you've got a team to go out and kill anyone who disagrees with you.
