10 Reasons To Be Excited For DC's New Age Of Heroes

1. The Terrifics

Now this book is interesting if nothing else for it being a ballsy and amusing headnod to DC's competition, Marvel.

The latter have been missing their First Family, the Fantastic Four, for some time now, and rumours have swirled this has been down to CEO Ike Perlmutter and his childish anger at the movie rights being with Fox. Well, now it seems that DC will be the ones bringing the Fantastic Four back long before Marvel will be.

With a team made up of Plastic Man, Mister Terrific, Metamorpho and Phantom Girl, a foursome who bear more than a slight resemblance to Marvel's main four, the comic will also be about discovery and the thrill of finding new things.

Written by Jeff Lemire and with art by Ivan Reis and Joe Prado, The Terrifics sees the group 'literally bound together by a tragic accident' and forced to find their way home through the Dark Multiverse of Metal.

Already an eye-raising conceit, another surprising element was revealed at New York Comic Con: the series will involve Alan Moore creation Tom Strong, and possibly the wider ABC Universe.

Lemire looks to use the book to talk about the excitement of discovery and exploration, and show readers that there's so much more to the DC Universe than they realise.
