10 Reasons Ultimate Spider-Man Is The GREATEST Spider-Man Run Ever
5. A Range Of Great Art Styles
The Ultimate Spider-Man series has a really nice art style that really nails the physique of Spider-Man himself. It was always a bit strange how in the main continuity Spider-Man appeared as a really buff character. Sure he is incredibly strong, but he's also meant to be extremely fast and dexterous. In the Ultimate Universe Spider-Man has a smaller frame but is more toned, which also makes it easier for Peter to hide his true physique under baggy trousers and hoodies.
Some of the villains look fantastic as well. Green Goblin and Venom are both hulking monsters that make Spider-Man look tiny in comparison, whereas characters such as Mysterio and Shocker get cool re-designs that better suit the aesthetic of the Marvel Universe.
After the Ultimatum storyline the second volume of the series began with a new art design. While many prefer the original pencils of Mark Bagley, Stuart Immonen's style isn't bad at all and helps differentiate between the two different chapters of Peter's life perfectly.
