10 Reasons Ultimate Spider-Man Is The GREATEST Spider-Man Run Ever
4. It Crosses Over With Other Characters Naturally
The Ultimate Universe had a huge benefit of starting all the comics from the same point in time, meaning that different story arcs for different heroes could naturally crossover.
Being one of the main series of the Ultimate Universe, Spider-Man sees himself interacting with a range of Marvel characters throughout his issues in a way that feels natural to his story. Every interaction with Iron Man, Captain America and Nick Fury serves a larger purpose in Spider-Man's own journey as a super-hero. A fantastic moment is when Captain America simply refuses to train the web-slinger, which has a nice pay-off later on in the Ultimate Universe.
Spider-Man is still just a kid amongst most of the other heroes in the universe. However he isn't the only younger character, and Spider-Man eventually finds himself with a supporting cast that borrows from other titles such as X-Men and the Fantastic Four. At one point in the story Spider-Man is actually living with The Human Torch and Ice-Man, and for a brief period he even begins dating Kitty Pryde. Whereas in the original continuity some of the character crossovers felt like marketing ploys, in the Ultimate Universe it all just feels natural and doubles up as a great method of world building.
It's done so well that many elements of Spider-Man interacting with other characters has been used as inspiration for the MCU. This can seen clearly with Spider-Man's relationship with both Nick Fury and indeed Iron Man.
