10 Reasons Why Batman Needs Alfred Back

6. The Batcave

Alfred Pennyworth
DC Comics

While Batman and each of the Robins work to maintain the Bat Computer, the Batmobiles and other vehicles, and the equipment they carry in their utility belts, who is taking care of the Batcave? Alfred looked after many functions in the cave while the Dynamic Duo were out on patrol and throughout the day.

Without Alfred there, who is there to clean the glass on the display cases in the trophy room and the costume cases in the cave? Who is going to dust the robotic dinosaur or shine the giant penny? When Batman and Robin tear their costumes, which is frequent, who is going to mend them without the ever-faithful butler around?

It goes without saying that the bats in the Batcave were not housebroken. The technical term for bat excrement is guano, and while surely covers and barriers were put in place to keep it off of the most sensitive equipment, these are flying animals and the guano would need to be cleaned up on a regular basis. It is somewhat hard to picture Batman in his cape and cowl mopping the floor of the Batcave or cleaning bat poop off the dinosaur’s nose.
